Apple CarPlay Screen Upgrade · Oakleigh South

A 12.3-inch CarPlay screen in a 2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class, with the factory system still there

A 12.3-inch OEM-style CarPlay screen fitted to a 2016 Mercedes-Benz C-Class in Melbourne. Apple CarPlay runs full-width or split with the map, and the factory Mercedes system is still one tap away.

This C-Class came in for a widescreen upgrade. The 12.3-inch display sits where the factory screen does, in an aluminium alloy housing that carries away the heat a screen this size produces, and it runs smoothly in use. What matters more than the size is what it does not take away: the factory Mercedes system is still on the unit, one tap from the home screen, so the car's own menus are exactly where the owner left them. Apple CarPlay runs full-width, or splits so navigation sits beside what's playing. All work is backed by a one-year warranty on parts and installation.

Factory look, kept

A bigger screen that takes nothing away.

01

Reads as factory, not aftermarket

The display takes the place of the screen on top of the dash rather than cutting into the trim, so from the driver's seat the car looks like it left the factory this way. Nothing around it moves — the centre vents, the climate panel and the NAV, RADIO and MEDIA buttons on the console all stay where Mercedes put them.

02

The factory system is still on it

The home screen carries an OEM tile beside CarPlay, Audio, Video and Phone. Tap it and the car's own system comes back up. This is the question most owners ask before a screen upgrade, and the answer here is that nothing was taken out to make room.

03

CarPlay full-width, or split with the map

Connected, CarPlay fills the whole width of the screen. The split view puts navigation on one side and what's playing on the other — on a screen this wide that is genuinely usable, rather than two halves too small to read at a glance.

04

An aluminium housing, for the heat

The unit is built into an aluminium alloy case. A display this size sitting under a windscreen through a Melbourne summer has to shed its own heat, and metal does that better than a plastic shell.

05

Worth knowing before you book one

A screen upgrade on a European car depends on what the factory system allows, so the price is not one number the way it is on a Japanese or Korean fit. Send us a photo of your dashboard and one of your number plate and we'll confirm what suits your car and what it costs.
