Before recommending an option, we check the factory head unit, dashboard layout and whether the existing camera or steering wheel controls can be retained — because the right setup depends on the car, not just the screen.
What we check before quoting.
Some cars can take an integrated unit that fits the factory dash opening. Others need an external screen, or a custom bracket solution. The result also depends on whether the factory audio amp, steering wheel controls and reverse camera can be carried across.
We usually ask for the car year and a dashboard photo before quoting. That one step avoids surprises on the day of installation.

Eligible CarPlay and Android Auto installation work completed by C1 Automotive is covered by a 1-year workmanship warranty. Product warranty depends on the unit and supplier. What to expect.
- How much does Apple CarPlay installation cost in Melbourne?
- $450 for Japanese and Korean vehicles, including GST, the head unit, the vehicle-specific fascia, wiring, integration parts, steering-wheel control integration and installation labour. German and European vehicles start at $650 — on those we either fit a CarPlay module that feeds into the factory screen, or replace the screen, depending on what the car allows. A reverse camera fitted at the same time is $150.
- Is anything added to the price later?
- No. If we find anything outside the agreed quote, we call you first and explain the cost. No additional work is carried out without your approval.
- Can you install wireless Apple CarPlay?
- Yes. The head units we fit support both wireless and wired Apple CarPlay, so you can connect without plugging the phone in.
- Does it work with an Android phone?
- Yes. The same head unit supports Android Auto as well as Apple CarPlay.
- Will the steering wheel controls still work?
- In most cases we retain steering wheel control function where the car and unit support it, so volume, track and phone buttons keep working. This is vehicle-specific and we confirm compatibility before work begins.
- Does it use my existing speakers?
- Yes. The head unit drives your factory speakers, so no speaker replacement is needed.
- Can I keep my factory reverse camera?
- In many cars, yes. In others, the factory camera input is not compatible with the new head unit, or a new camera is needed. We check this before quoting so you know what to expect. A new reverse camera fitted with the head unit is $150 and includes reversing guidelines.
- Is it a proper factory-style fit or an add-on screen?
- It is an integrated fit. The head unit sits in the dashboard behind a fascia made for your vehicle, so it looks like it belongs there rather than being a separate screen attached to the dash.
- What screen sizes do you have?
- Both 9-inch and 10-inch head units, depending on what suits your dashboard.
- How long does installation take?
- A CarPlay installation with a reverse camera takes around three and a half hours and the car goes back to you the same day. European vehicles and factory-integrated setups can take longer depending on the dashboard and wiring involved.
- What warranty do I get?
- One year on both the parts and the installation. If something is not right, bring the car back and we will look at it.
- Where is the work done?
- At our workshop in Oakleigh South. Installations are carried out in the workshop, not as a mobile service.
- What should I send before booking?
- For a Japanese or Korean vehicle the price is $450, so you can book straight away — just tell us the make, model and year. For a German or European vehicle, send those details plus a clear photo of the current dashboard or factory screen, because the same model and year can come with different factory head units and that changes the parts needed.
