Apple CarPlay Screen Upgrade · Oakleigh South

Before and after: a 12-inch CarPlay screen on a 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

The small factory screen on a 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class replaced with a 12-inch widescreen display running Apple CarPlay, at our Oakleigh South workshop in Melbourne. The factory Mercedes system and the factory reversing camera are both still there.

Drag the photo below to see the dash before and after, shot from the same spot. The factory display came off the top of the dash and a 12-inch widescreen went on in its place, so the vents, the climate panel and the NAV, RADIO and MEDIA buttons are exactly where Mercedes put them. Everything taken out for the job was laid out on a mat rather than piled up, and went back the way it came. The owner keeps the car's own system and its reversing camera, and gets Apple CarPlay on a 12-inch screen wide enough to use. All work is backed by a one-year warranty on parts and installation.

How it was done

A wider screen, and the car still feels like a Mercedes.

01

Same spot, before and after

Both dash photos are taken from the same position, so the slider shows only what changed: the small factory display is gone and the 12-inch widescreen sits in its place on top of the dash. Nothing around it was cut or moved.

02

Every panel laid out, not piled up

A screen upgrade on a C-Class means the glovebox and the console trim come out. Those pieces go onto a protective mat, laid out neatly, so nothing gets scratched or misplaced, and every one goes back where it came from.

03

The Mercedes system is still on it

The car's own menus — Navi, Radio, Media, Tel and Vehicle — still come up on the new screen. Apple CarPlay is added alongside, not in place of, what the car already had.

04

The factory reversing camera, with its guidelines

Select reverse and the factory camera comes up on the new screen with its guidelines and the parking sensor display, the same picture the car showed before, only bigger.

05

What it costs on a German car

There are two ways to add CarPlay to a car like this: a CarPlay module into the factory screen, $750 (we keep these in stock), or a new screen, $850 for the 10-inch or $1,050 for the 12-inch (ordered in). This C-Class has the 12-inch. Send us a photo of your dash and we'll tell you which suits your car.
